Keema Matar (Indian ground beef curry with peas)
Adapted from the recipe on the site "Tea For Tumeric" , this dish is just bursting with flavor!
Ingredients
- 9 Tbsp oil for sautéing
- 3 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup minced garlic paste
- 3 inches fresh ginger, peeled, and minced
- 3 pounds Green Family Farm's ground beef
- 2 14.5oz cans petite diced tomato
- 1 bunch green chili peppers, and fresh curry leaves
- 1/4 cup whole milk greek yogurt
- 3 tsp coriander powder
- 1.5 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 Tbsp himalayan pink salt
- 3 cups frozen green peas, thawed
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
- . . garnish w/ extra cilantro, lime wedge, and/or greek yogurt
Instructions
- 1Sauté the onion and cumin seeds in the oil. Add in the garlic and ginger, and continue cooking for 1 minute.
- 2Add the ground beef, and cook fully.
- 3Next, add the tomatoes, peppers, curry leaves, yogurt, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- 4To finish, add the peas, cilantro, and garam masala powder, and simmer a few more minutes.
- 5Serve with rice or bread, and garnish with extra cilantro, lime wedge, and/or more greek yogurt!
